Taking note
As important photography is to wildlife conservation, sometimes it's important to go beyond a story and collect some data. I'm an avid birder and consequently collect a lot of bird data. I also think its important to use wildlife photos as a source from which to learn.

Data
While at Emboo Camp, I recorded exactly where I saw birds almost every day. I also recorded all the species I saw on each safari. I'm working through all this data to try to understand both the distributions of these birds, but also what a tourist could expect while on a safari in Kenya.
Catalogues
Identifying whales was such an important part of conservation in BC, and an integral part of our whale watching experience. I expected there to be something similar for lions and cheetahs. There was, but severely lacking. I made a template to better help ID the cats in the Masai Mara.

Learning from a photo
Yes, photos of animals are adorable, but there are so many hidden secrets that we can explore when we take a closer look. What aspect pertaining to the animal does the photo teach us about?
Data

eBird
Somehow I've seen more than 10% of all recognized species in the world.
